One of the Five Lakes of Mt. Fuji located within the special district of the ”Fuji Hakone Izu National Park” in Yamanashi Prefecture. Westernmost of the five lakes, it has a maximum depth of 121.6 m. This view of Fuji can be found at the back of the one thousand yen bill that has been in circulation since 2004.

    A rich number of leisure activities such as Bass fishing, boat riding, horseback riding, camping, etc. are available in the area. It is an extremely ideal place as a cool summer resort. Over 30 cm of snow lying during winter each year and visitors can enjoy skating in the frozen lake.

    - Take the Fujikyuko Line from the JR "Otsuki Station" (60 minutes), alight and transfer to the local bus at "Kawaguchiko Station", and alight at "Motosu" (60 minutes). - Take the express bus from "Shin Fuji Station" and alight at "Motosu" (60 minutes).
