Waterfall of Shirahige
©AFLO, Masami Goto
Located 600 meters above sea leven in the Shirogane hot spring village of Biei City, this waterfall stands more than 30 meters tall. The water flowing down the gaps between the rocks resembles a white beard, earning it the name Shirohige (white beard). The water springs from beneath the rocks and falls with force to the rocks below, creating a beautiful splash of cobalt blue.
