Built in 1611, the castle is sometimes called ”Chidori Castle” (chidori meaning 'plover', a type of bird), because its roof resembles a plover spreading her wings. It is undeniably beautiful with its springtime cherry blossoms, and also when the snow covered castle is illuminated in winter.
