The legend of this onsen (hot spring) says that it was discovered by the sighting of an injured stork healing its wounds in the waters. It is an old and historic place where many literary figures visited. It won two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan.

The specialty of this place is to stroll around 7 sotoyu (public hot springs) in Yukata ( Japanese bathrobe). It would be quite atmospheric to make a tour from one sotoyu to another wearing Japanese wooden clogs called Geta, which make particular sound of footsteps. Even if the robe came undone, staff members of "Yukata Goikenban" scattered about in the city will redo your yukata.
