Bitchu Matsuyama Castle is referred to as a Castle in the Sky. Seas of clouds often appear from fall to winter each year, and the view of the castle shrowded in morning mist is overwhelmingly powerful. The castle keep, which is situated near the peak of Mt. Gagyu, is designated as an important national cultural property. In addition, this mountain castle is situated at the highest elevation among those with original castle keeps in Japan.
