This is a resort area blessed with beautiful beaches, vast nature, and a warm climate. It is equipped with many sightseeing related facilities, such as large resort hotels and other new sightseeing facilities. Many places on the island offer superb views, such as the Ikema Ohashi Bridge, Higashi-Hennazaki, and the Yonaha Maehama Beach among others. Miyakojima’s local specialties, such as textiles, products made with processed coral, Miyako pottery, the sanshin (Okinawan traditional three-stringed instrument,) and awamori (a type of strong Okinawan liquor) are very popular too.
