Ryujin Fire Festival

The main event of Gero Onsen Festival. A five-headed dragon and Mikoshi (portable shrine) parade through the streets, ending in the center of the onsen (hot spring) town. Men in traditional clothes dance amongst firecrackers and sparks, with terrible dragons on display at this lively festival.

First Saturday in August
Gero Onsen Festival begins on the first Saturday of August and lasts for three days. There are plenty of other events in addition to the Ryujin Fire Festival, such as the “Fireworks Musical”, “Children’s Mikoshi”, and “The Yunohana Mikoshi Parade”.
