This hot spring was made famous by the NHK television drama “Oshin”. Gas street lamps burn at night, and the closely packed wooden inns create a nostalgic atmosphere like the Taisho era (early 1900’s). Many people come to enjoy the unique atmosphere all throughout the year.
Ginzan Onsen, Ginzan Shinhata area, Obanazawa, Yamagata
The gas street lamps illuminate the snow piled on the eaves of the inns, creating a mystical scene.
From JR Oishida Station, take a bus bound for Ginzan Onsen and exit at “Ginzan Onsen”.
