The area is commonly known as Gion Town, and it extends to Shinbashi Street in the north, Kennin-ji in the south, Yasaka Shrine in the east and the area of Kamo River in the west. It is also famous as a Maiko (apprentice Geisha) town or ”Hanamachi”. There are houses with traditional lattice doors in this area. The atmosphere is great.

Gion is a major amusement center surrounding Hanamachi, with a row of drinking and eating establishments, including chaya (tea houses) , ryotei (fancy Japanese restaurants), and bars.
Get off a city bus 206 line at "Gion" or "Shijokeihan-mae" and walk for one minute
Get off a train at "Gionshijou station" and walk for 3 minutes
