Sunflowers in Oshino Village
©AFLO, Iwao Kataoka
While cherry blossoms, buckwheat, and cosmos flowers bloom throughout the year and are wonderful to see, sunflowers are a summer tradition in Oshino Village. Because they have varieties that bloom both early and late in the season, you can enjoy them as late as September.

Mid-August to early September
Amidst the late-blooming sunflower fields, on a clear day one can enjoy a glorious view of Mt. Fuji. Because the sunflowers are more than two meters tall (!), you need to be clever to find the perfect angle for photos.
From the Fuji Kyuko Line Fujisan Station, take an Uchino Fujikyu Yamanashi Bus and get off at Tengusha-mae. It is a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.
