The Yamauturi River runs along Shin-Yabakei Gorge, where the sheer cliffs and stone pillars are lined up one after another. The zig-zagging cliff face is quite interesting. At the center of the tourist and onsen area stands the Hitome-Hakkei Observatory, which is the best place to see eight huge rocks including Eboshi-iwa and Sennin-iwa.
