Juniko Lakes , Ketoba Lake

Juniko (Twelve Lakes) is a group of 33 lakes located in western Shirakami-Sanchi. Despite the actual number of lakes, it was named after only 12 of them because they are the only ones visible from the nearby mountain. Ketoba Lake (Bird Head Lake) is one of the 12, and is in fact shaped like (you guessed it) a bird's head. Its crystal clear water vividly reflects the surrounding beech trees.
