The area around Kami-Ichino Town, Kami-Nino Town and Kami-Sanno Town in Hida-Takayama developed as a city of merchants and is called as ”Sanmachi Dori” or San Town street. Lining the streets are old houses with detailed, traditional latticed bay windows. This is a spot where people can fully enjoy the tradition of Japan, by riding a Jinrikisha (or a rickshaw, a human-powered vehicle), by visiting sake breweries, or visiting tea shops that serve Japanese-style sweets.
