The view of Mount Komagatake seen from Onuma area was selected as one of the new Nihon Sankei (New three most scenic spots in Japan) in 1915. The area of large and small lakes and reservoirs is collectively called ”Onuma” which include ”Onuma”, ”Konuma” and ”Junsai-numa, as well as Mount Komagatake, which is popular among climbers.

The popular activities around the area includes climbing Mount Komagatake or renting a bicycle for a ride. There are 3 attractive walking routes that let you explore the lakes' peninsulas and islands connected with each other by 18 bridges: Shima-meguri (Island-hop) route, Mori-no Komichi (Forest path) route, and Oshima-meguri (Big island-hop) route.
