Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, is known as the "birthplace" of Kenji Miyazawa (1896-1933, poet). In the city, there is the "Kenji Miyazawa Fairy Tale Village," where you can experience the world of Kenji Miyazawa. With the Ou Mountains to the west and the Kitakami Highlands to the east, Hanamaki City is full of attractions such as magnificent nature, Hanamaki Hot Spring Village, one of the best hot spring resorts in the Tohoku regions (Aomori, Miyagi, Iwate, Akita, and Fukushima prefectures), and the traditional performing art of Hayachine Kagura, which has a history of over 500 years.
