Sagae & Gassan

The pine tree of Kinugasa in Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture, was designated as a natural monument in 1966. It is known as a tourist attraction due to its significant presence. Gassan, where you can enjoy skiing even in the summer, is also a place to see various alpine plants and wild birds, and one of the highlights in the area is the “Large Water Fountain, Gassan Lake,” which is called the largest fountain in Japan. During the autumn foliage season, you can see the vivid colors of the leaves at Jintsu Gorge, which is a must-visit spot.
