Shirakawa Village

Shirakawa Village

Shirakawa-go (Shirakawa Village) is a world heritage site with a 300-year-old thatched-roof house. Every season here is incredibly gorgeous, either cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, autumn leaves during fall, and white winter scenery. The scenery of the existing mountain village is exactly the actual scenery of Japan.
The village is well known for its clusters of farmhouses, constructed in the architectural style known as gasshō-zukuri, which are designed to easily shed snow from their roofs. Experience traditional wisdom and techniques, as well as the magnificent nature, such as "Hirase Onsen," which is the source of the mountain worship at the foot of Mt. Hakusan.
