Matsuyama & Dogo

Matsuyama & Dogo

Dogo Onsen is famous for being the oldest hot spring in Japan, mentioned in Nihonsyoki (Japanese Chronicles, 720). There are many stories, including the legend of the white egret, and it has been loved by historical figures such as Prince Shotoku (574-622). The area is the birthplace of Soseki Natsume (novelist,1867-1916), the author of "Botchan," and the "A Botchan Automation Clock" is located just outside Dogo Onsen Station.
In the Matsuyama area, you can enjoy strolling around the town while experiencing the history of "Matsuyama Castle," the symbol of the city, and Konpiragu Temple, nicknamed "Kompira-san."
