Yatsugatake, which straddles Nagano and Yamanashi prefectures, is designated as a national park and has a range of mountains, including the main peak Mt. Akadake (2899m), Mt. Gongendake, Mt. Ioudake, Mt. Amidadake, and Mt. Tengudake. The mountains are home to mysterious virgin forests, ponds, and many precious plants and animals.
The Obuchisawa and Kiyosato areas are famous as resort areas, and during the holiday season, tourists from all over Japan come to enjoy the seasonal changes in nature. It is also a great spot to enjoy the canyon's beauty from the promenade at the Doryu no Taki waterfall in Oizumi, which has a drop of 10 meters and a width of 15 meters.
