The Sagano/Takao area has many sightseeing places, such as the beautiful moss covering the grounds of “Saimyoji Temple “ and “Jojakkoji Temple,” a Nichiren Shu temple located halfway up Mt. Ogura.
The area is also home to many historical buildings, including the World Heritage site of “Tenryuji Temple,” “Kano Nenbutsuji Temple,” which is believed to have been built by Kobo Taishi (774-835, monk), and “Nonomiya Shrine,” which is famous for the god of a good match, childbirth, and learning.
