Ayabe & Fukuchiyama

Ayabe & Fukuchiyama

In the Fukuchiyama area, Fukuchiyama Castle was used as a base by Akechi Mitsuhide (1516-1582, warlord), who conquered Tamba (area name). The castle looks a little different from the commonly known Japanese castles, so it is a must-see spot.
In the Ayabe area, there are family-friendly spots like Ayabe Fureai Farm and Ayabe Onsen. They are great spots for a family vacation.
The Ayabe area is also full of other attractions, such as “Mt. Ohe,” a popular place for mountain climbing and for viewing the autumn foliage, and “Sandanike Park,” where cherry blossoms bloom in spring and azaleas in autumn.
