The Ogoto/Katata area is a tourist destination with several hot springs and Honpukuji Temple, associated with Matsuo Basho (haiku poet, 1644-1694).
The “Ogoto Onsen,” located at the foot of Mt. Hiei, offers a variety of day trip hot springs and footbaths, where you can enjoy bathing while overlooking Lake Biwa and enjoy dishes made with Omi beef.
Besides, there are many places for sightseeing, such as “Kotokuji Temple,” which is said to be related to Rennyo Shonin (Buddhist), and ”Kitakomatsu Suieijyou (one of Lake Biwa’s beach),” which is famous for its beautiful beach.
