Nihonbashi had flourished as a center of commerce, economy, and culture since the Edo period (1603-1868), when it was the starting point for the five roads that brought people and goods from all over Japan.
Even today, amidst the high-rise office buildings, there are still many old stores and places with an Edo atmosphere, making the city a place where tradition and the latest things coexist.
Besides, there are many subways in the Nihombashi area so that you can use different trains depending on your destination.
