Hyogo & Kobe

Hyogo & Kobe

The two most famous destinations in the prefecture are the richly historical Ijinkan (Western-style residences for foreign residents in the late Edo and early Meiji periods) and Himeji Castle, also known as the White Egret Castle. If you’d like to walk the town and sample a number of different types of onsen water, be sure to stop at Arima Onsen and Kinosaki Onsen, hot springs that even feature in ancient manuscripts and literature. Last but not least, while you’re here make sure to try Kobe beef, an indispensable dish for the global palate.
