The westernmost prefecture on the island of Honshu, Yamaguchi abounds with untouched nature at sightseeing destinations like Omijima Island and Akiyoshidai, the largest karst plateau in Japan. In Iwakuni City you’ll find Kintai Bridge, built in 1673 and registered as one of the Three Great Bridges of Japan. Also, many structures of historical importance can still be found in old castle towns like Hogi City and Shimonoseki City. When you stop in at Shimonoseki, be sure to try the famous fugu fish there.
