5 shibazakura (moss phlox) great views: flower fields like a dream
Shibazakura (moss phlox), expanding all around of hill, is for this time.
It was named because it covers the ground like a turf grass, and it blooms flowers like cherry blossoms. (Shiba means a turf grass and zakura means a cherry blossom in Japanese.)
The zekkei (great view) pictures of sightseeing sites famous for moss phlox are very impressive.

1: Hokkaido Shibazakura Takinoue park

A zekkei (great view) flower field is in an area of "Okhotsk-Monbetsu", which is located at the east side of Hokkaido.
Pink carpets covers all around of slopes of the mountain. In this season, slight scents of sweet spread in the town of Takinoue.
If you look at carefully, you can find gradation of pinks, such as pale pink, a bit thick pink, and reddish pink.
From the middle of May until early June are the best season to see.

2: Hokkaido Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park

From early May until early June every year, moss phlox becomes the best season to see, and all around the hill is dyed in pink.
The famous site of moss phlox is proudly vast large land of 10 hectare and the landscape is very beautiful and fantastic. Many tourists visit every year.

3: Mt. Fuji Fuji shibazakura (moss phlox) festival

Moss phlox has a characteristic that shape of flowers are similar to those of cherry blossoms, and is growing covering the ground like turf grass.
The landscape, expanding moss phlox just in front of Mt Fuji, is overwhelming.
The festival is held around the middle of April till late May every year.

4: Saitama/Chichibu Hitsujiyama park

More than 400,000 moss phloxes of 9 kinds cover the ground and expand all over the hill.
Colored in pink, red, white, and purple carpet looks like patchworks.

5: Hiroshima/Miyajima Flower village Rokutan

"Flower Village Rokutan" is called as moss phlox like a dream.
The big picture is drawn with 800,000 moss phloxes in 4 colors all over on the 50,000 square meter hill.
A unique name of "Rokutan" is from Rokutanda farm, which operates the park.
