This is an underwater “floating” torii gate in the Ariake Sea, Saga Prefecture. The town with which this torii is situated, Tara Town, is also known as “The Town to see the Power of the Moon” due to the fact that this is the place to see the largest tide difference in the whole of Japan. The difference can reach a whopping 6 meters. Visitors can walk below the “floating” torii during low-tide. The “Yukino Lanterns Festival” in August depicts a magical scene of 500 lanterns situated among the torii.
