This popular hot spring valley has been bustling with visitors ever since the mid-Showa era (1926-1989). Cherry blossom trees were actively raised here in 1965 in order to resurrect the old townscape and once abundance of nature. There are currently around 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees and wild cherry trees here. Besides the cherry trees of spring, this region can be fully enjoyed during any season – cluster amaryllis flowers bloom in abundance here in late summer, and the Japanese bush clover magnificently peaks during the fall.
