This zen temple representative of Kita-Kamakura is one of the five Great Rinzai Temples of Kamakura. It has witnessed a vast number of natural disasters, with the main gate, temple gate, temple building containing Buddhist imagery, and the lecture hall being arranged in a straight line in order to resemble how it once stood before destruction. Kenchoji Temple can be enjoyed throughout the year - with cherry blossoms in the spring, autumnal colors in the fall and the "Treasure Chest" even held for 3 days in November.
