Kyorinbo Temple
- 教林坊
- Shiga & Lake Biwa
Said to have been created by Prince Shotoku in the year 605, "Kyorinbo Temple" got its name from being a place of teaching ("kyo") surrounded by forest ("rin"). The magnificent moss-covered large stones lined up in the garden is conveyed as per Enshu Kobori’s wabisabi world (world view around the acceptance of transience and imperfection). The thatched roof of ths study building, designated as a important cultural property by the city, is another highlight of Kyorinbo Temple. The view of around 200 trees all glowing red next to a huge bamboo grove during late-November is also extremely stunning.
