Myth suggests that this is the battlefield where the god of Mt. Nantaisan and the god of Mt. Akagisan fought around Lake Chuzenji. The lake was once a wetlands with a size of 400-hectares. The popular 2-and-a-half hour hiking course passes through Yumoto Onsen Hot Spring, Yudaki Falls, Izumiyado Pond, Aoki Bridge, Senjogahara Observatory, Akanuma Bunki, as well as crossing Shakunage Bridge to reach the finale of the course at Ryuzu Waterfall. This hiking course is predominately flat, making it an ideal course for beginners.
