Tsubame Onsen Hot Spring
This little-known hot spring is located at the base of Mt. Myoko with an elevation of 1,100m, and can be characterized by its hot, opaque waters. It is named as such due to it once being home to a colony of swallows (tsubame = swallow in Japanese). The sulfur aroma floats around this lovely hot spring town. Why not take a tour of all of the open-air hot springs – such as the free Kogane-no-Yu and Kawahara-no-yu. (Closed during some parts of winter). Visitors flock to this quaint area to see the fresh greenery of spring and summer, as well as the autumnal leaves of mid- to late-October.
