Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge
Apr.
A suspension bridge of about 3,911 meters in length, Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge connects Maiko-Tarumi Ward to Kobe City and Awaji Island's Awaji City-Matsuo. It boasts of being the longest suspension bridge in the world. In the evening, its illumination changes depending on the season and time. It has earned the nickname "Pearl Bridge" as its beauty is reminiscent of a line of pearls. Its sister bridge is Denmark's Great Belt Bridge.
