The highest peak in Hokkaido, Mount Asahi is 2,291 meters above sea level and has been chosen as one of the "100 Famous Mountains in Japan." Its beauty lies in the fact its scenery changes throughout the four seasons. The blooming of mizubasho and ezonoryukinka flowers signify the arrival of spring, and alpine plants such as the rhododendron bloom in the summer. There are yellow leaves of different trees in autumn, and depending on weather conditions, there would be fog ice, diamond dust, and sun pillar in winter. On a clear sunny day with no winds, the mountain is reflected on the surface of "Sugatami-no-Ike Pond" from an altitude of 1,600 meters, creating a magnificent atmosphere.
