Completed at the same time as when the Kyudai Main Line opened, it is a railroad roundhouse with a radius of 47.84 meters around a platform with a diamater of 18.5 meters. It is the only railway heritage in Kyushu. In 2009, it was designated as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's modernized industrial heritage; in 2012, it was designated as a registered tangible cultural asset in Japan. During the war, as it was the base of military transportation, it came under the fire of US machine guns, and traces of bullets still remain until now. The exhibited SL steam locomotive no. 29612 is popularly nicknamed "Kyu-roku (nine-six)."
