Matsuyama Castle is one of Japan's twelve castles with its original castle keep which were constructed before the Edo period (1600-1868).The castle was selected as one of ”Japan's Top 100 Castles”, ”Japan's 100 most beautiful historical landscape” and ranked number 2 on “Japanese castles you won't regret going to ranking 2014” . The castle has also been awarded two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan 2009.

The keep of the castle (Honmaru) is located on the top of the Shiroyama (Katsuyama) mountain at a height of 132 m is accessible on foot. It can also be accessed by ropeway.

Nearest Station/IC Access
Take the street car (tram) bound for "Dogo Onsen" from JR "Matsuyama Station" (about 10 minutes) and get off at "Okaido". The castle is located a 5-minute walk from the tram stop.
