Ryusendo is one of Japan's three largest limestone caverns. Ryusendo is famous for its deep underground lakes with beautiful emerald-green water. The cave and its rare species of bats were designated a Natural Monument by the Japanese government. The total confirmed length of the cave is 3,600 meters and the accessible length is 700 meters. Currently 8 underground lakes have been discovered and 3 of them are opened to the public. Exploration of the caves is still ongoing.

The temperature inside the caverns is uniformly 10℃ year round, so a light jacket or long-sleeved shirt is recommended even during hot summer days.

Nearest Station/IC Access
Take a local bus at "Omoto Station" on the Sanriku Railway Company's Kita Riasu Line and get off at "Ryusendo" (about 45 minutes).
