Yurigahama Beach (Yoron Island)
May Noon
A beach of pure white sand that appears only when the tide is low. The contrast between the sand beach and the highly transparent sea, which is layered with many shades of blue, is exquisitely beautiful. This place is also called the ”phantom beach,” as the location where it appears and its shape changes with the rise and fall of the tides. The sand of Yurigahama beach is star-shaped, which has brought about the name of ”Hoshi no suna” (star sand) and it is said that taking home as many grains of sand as your age in years brings happiness.

Depending on the tides and the day, the location of where the beach appears, along with its size, and whether it appears at all or not are effected, so it is essential to check its website in advance. The best time for visiting is at a spring tide in during spring and summer season.
