Sefa-Utaki Sefa-Utaki

Sefa Utaki is a sanctuary of Ryukyu, that has been created by the founder of Ryukyu, Goddess Amamikyu.
Kikoe-Ogimi that was the highest Goddess of Ryukyu during the Kingdom era, brought white sand from God's Island Kudaka and spread throughout Utaki. That was Kikoe-Ogimi's inauguration ceremony called "Oarauri".
Sefa-Utaki the key location of worship for many people during a religious event called "Agari Umaai", which conveys the stories of the pilgrimage to the sacred sites of King Ryukyu and Kikoe-Ogimi.
There are 6 "Ibi" (sacred areas) in Utaki, and the 6 incense burner at the entrance of Sefa-Utaki indicate incarnations. In the past, only those who performed ceremony rituals could enter beyond the gate to pray in front of this incense burner.
