Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine

The headquarters of Sumiyoshi Shrine, with approximately 2,300 branches nationwide, has more than 1,800 years of history. It was built with a special method called ”Sumiyoshi-zukuri” (a type of straight roof characteristic of some Shinto shrines). This type of architecture is said to be the oldest in shrine architectural history, and is designated as a national treasure.
