Spreading out at the foothills of Mount. Hoken, this area was carved into a bowl-shape by glaciers during the Ice Age. It is said to be 1,000 tatami mats wide, thus its name ”Senjojiki” (literally 1,000 tatami mats). It is known for its wealth of alpine plant life, and various flowers bloom in turn with the seasons.
