Spreading out at the foothills of Mount Hoken, this area was carved into a bowl-shape by glaciers during the Ice Age. It is said to be 1,000 tatami mats wide, which is pronounced in Japanese ”Senjojiki” (literally 1,000 tatami mats). This place is famous for its wealth of alpine plant life, where each season has its own special flowers.
