The 1.5km approach from National Road 368 to the gate of Shimpukuin temple is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot with a tunnel of cherry blossoms.
The Mitake area has been selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan, and the scenery of nostalgic rice fields lined with terraced rice paddies and thatched roofs decorated with mountain cherry blossoms is very beautiful, attracting many photographers and tourists. Because of the difference in elevation, the cherry blossoms can be seen for a long time.
