The Nagoya TV Tower (180 meters high), standing in Hisaya Odori Park in Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, was completed in 1954 and was the first concentrated radio tower in Japan.
The construction was done entirely by hand since there was no equipment available for the project, so it was designated as a registered tangible cultural property by the government in recognition of its more than 50 years of history.
With the end of analog TV broadcasting in 2011, the tower ceased to play a role as a radio tower, but it is now a symbol of the city as a sightseeing spot. The Sky Deck, 90 meters above the ground, and the outdoor Sky Balcony, 100 meters above the ground, offer scenic views.
