At the Onioshidashi Volcanic Park, located at the foot of Mt. Asama, there are such routes as the alpine plant observation route and the Okunoin path, here, the artistic scenery created by lava is particularly impressive.
The lava flowed out from the huge eruption of Mt. Asama in 1783, and was formed by weathering over many years, creating a beautiful landscape. The Asamayama Kannondo (Goddess of Mercy) Hall in the park was built as a memorial to the victims of the eruption.
On a clear day, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Northern Alps, the Tanigawa mountain range, and Mount Nantai in Nikko.
