Japan's northernmost zoo. Unlike most Japanese zoos which focus on ”form exhibition”, or showing the animals themselves, this zoo has become famous throughout the country by focusing on creating a comfortable space for the animals, exhibiting their inherent habits and behaviors, or ”behavioral exhibition”. There are lots of attractions such as an observation facility called ”Hokkyoku Guma Pavilion” (Polar Bear Pavilion) where you can watch polar bears dive.
