Shimagawa Dam is a gravity-type concrete dam constructed in the Shimagawa River that is located in the Tone River system, at the innermost part of Shima Onsen. The scenery-friendly beautiful walls remind us of Western castle-like style. Lake Okushima was built by Shimagawa Dam and these days it is a very popular spot to see "The Shima Blue" which literally means 40.000 shades of blue. Every season gives you an unforgettable scenery of fresh greenery in summer or gorgeous flaming leaves view in autumn. Pick up your way to enjoy the view, take a day trip to a hot spring or try canoeing watching the lake's blue surface. Or even try driving/cycling nearby.
