Shikamuramizo is a territory of 4 villages: Akita, Yasunami, Saoka, and Kotsuka, which is famous for its Yasunami Waterwheels made on Shimanto River. The waterwheels created an irrigation ditch (length 160m, width 11m) that provides water into the rice fields. In the past, there were many turbines installed to draw water into the paddy fields, but now only a few of them has left, and locals look after them. There is a park maintained near the waterwheels, where every year beautiful hydrangeas bloom along the waterway, creating a nostalgic rural landscape.
