An almost circular caldera lake formed by volcanic activities. The whole area is designated as a national park, and it is also listed as one of the ”Japanese Geoparks” and ”Global Geoparks”. The Toyako Onsen (hot spring) area has many inns and hotels, and is busy with many visitors.
