A bronze statue of patriot Sakamoto Ryoma (1835-1867) who is loved by many Japanese people, stands in Katsurahama. Sakamoto Ryoma's life was made into a TV drama, and filmed here. The bow-shaped beach is beautiful, and is also a famous place to view the moon.
