This is the site of one of the largest settlements in Japan, dating from about 5,500 to 4,000 years ago (Jomon Period). The area that is open to the public alone is about 50,000 square meters, and you can see the remains of buildings, houses, embankments, and large dugout buildings with six 2-meter diameter pillar holes.
